How do I set a default value for Object fields?

Save yourself the typing: set a default value once and it's automatically applied to every new asset.

For some asset fields, it's worth presetting a default value so you don't have to enter it manually every time you create a new asset. A good example is the Condition field – most objects reach your company in like-new condition. And the default value stays fully editable at any time, should you ever need to change it.

To set the default value, click on Settings and Object fields in the menu bar. Then click on the pencil icon to edit the asset field you want.

Now enter the desired value under Default value, or – in the case of a dropdown field – select it from the list, and confirm with Save.
