Scanning RFID tags has the major advantage that you don’t have to hold each tag up to the camera individually, but can capture many tags in a room all at once.
To establish a connection between your smartphone and the RFID scanner, first switch on the scanner. Make sure the Bluetooth icon flashes blue rapidly to indicate that the scanner is in pairing mode.
Now go to your smartphone’s Bluetooth settings and select the scanner from the list of available devices. Once pairing is successful, the Bluetooth icon on the scanner should now remain lit up in blue.
Note:
If the RFID scanner does not connect the first time, switch Bluetooth off and on again, then try again.
If you have any problems pairing the RFID scanner with your smartphone, please refer to the user manual for the relevant RFID scanner.
Next, establish the connection between the seventhings app and the scanner. To do this, open the app and log in with your personal login details. Then navigate to scan mode (1) in the navigation bar.
If pairing was successful, an RFID scanner icon (2) will appear in the top right-hand corner. Click on it.
Please note:
You must first establish a Bluetooth connection with your smartphone before the scanner appears in the app.
If your scanner supports this feature (depending on the model), select whether you want to scan barcodes or RFID tags. In this case, select RFID tags.
Please note:
The setting may not be applied the first time you enable it. If this happens, please enable it a second time.
Once the scanner has been activated, you can now configure the advanced settings.
These settings relate to the volume of the RFID scanner during use, the signal strength of the antenna (the further to the left, the weaker the signal), and the tag encoding (in our case, "EPC-ASCII"). Select your settings and click 'Close' to finish.
Once you have selected your current location and room, you are now ready to scan your assets using the scanner.
