Dropdown fields help you capture information about your objects quickly and consistently. Instead of typing values manually, you simply select them from a predefined list.
First, navigate to Settings and click on Object fields.
Click on Create field to create a new object field.
Select the field type Dropdown.
Give the field a meaningful name in the upper area. In the Possible values area, enter your selection options. Write each entry on a new line and press Enter to jump to the next value. You can enlarge the input box via drag-and-drop in the bottom right corner if you want to enter many values at once. We recommend sorting the entries alphabetically so your users can quickly find the desired category. Also avoid blank lines between values, and delete any blank line that may have appeared after the last entry – otherwise an empty field will appear in the selection list.
Then set further settings for your dropdown field and save at the end with Add.
Tip: Map granular logic with two (or more) dropdowns
You can combine dropdown fields to create a staged selection logic. To do this, first create a dropdown field for the parent group – for example, "General data" with values such as Furniture or Technology. Then, using the individual fields per category, you show a matching field group (e.g., "Technology") as soon as a parent group has been selected. In this field group, you place a second, more granular dropdown – for example, "Technology type" with values such as Laptop, Monitor, or Printer. This way, the detailed selection only appears when it is actually relevant. For illustration, we've included two screenshots below.
